The Queensland Police Citizens Youth Welfare Association was founded in 1948 and was established to provide support/assistance through recreational facilities/activities to 'at risk youth' in attempt to reduce the rising incidence of juvenile crime. The Association maintains this focus and believes they can make a difference by 'Improving communities through youth development'. The association has grown and now has forty-two [42] branches spanning across the state existing within metropolitan to rural and remote areas. Currently, association membership is in excess of thirty-six thousand [36,000] across the state and maintains the status of being the largest sport/recreation and childcare provider in Queensland.
